Banga Ratna awardee Parimal Dey returns honor in protest against RG Kar case

In a significant act of protest, Parimal Dey, a respected teacher from Alipurduar, has decided to return his Banga Ratna award in response to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's handling of the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata.

The Banga Ratna Award, which Dey received in 2019, was meant to recognize his educational contributions. However, Parimal Dey expressed his deep disappointment with the state government's response to the incident, which has sparked nationwide outrage.

"I have decided to return the Banga Ratna award...I support the protest. The way she (Mamata Banerjee) is running the administration is not right," Dey stated, aligning himself with the growing dissent against the administration's actions.

Meanwhile, the central probe agency CBI has completed the polygraph test on prime accused Sanjay Roy. CBI officials leave from Presidency Jail in Kolkata, after conducting the test.
