SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
In a surprising turn of events, Shiv Shakti Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Begusarai Municipal Corporation, tied the knot with his niece, Sajal Sindhu, at Katyayani Mandir in Bihar’s Khagaria on August 14. The marriage has stirred controversy, with accusations and family disputes arising in its aftermath.
Sajal Sindhu, a 24-year-old postgraduate student, defended their relationship, emphasizing that falling in love is a personal decision and not a crime. She stated that her husband’s family has falsely accused him in an FIR and expressed determination not to run away from the challenges they now face. "Our families have been harassing us since our marriage, creating difficulties in both our personal lives and my husband's job," Sindhu shared.
The couple's love story began in 2015 when Sajal, then a student at the Central Hindu Girls School of BHU in Varanasi, met Shiv Shakti, who was pursuing his postgraduate studies. Despite the familial connection, their friendship gradually blossomed into love, leading to their recent marriage.
Shiv Shakti Kumar, 31, who hails from Manua village in Bihar’s Hajipur district, has taken a long leave from his duties, presumably to focus on his marriage. Meanwhile, the couple is facing mounting pressure from their families, who have not only disapproved of the union but have also taken legal steps against them.
The situation has sparked widespread debate, raising questions about love, family obligations, and the legal implications of their union. Despite the controversy, the couple remains resolute in their commitment to each other, vowing to face any challenges that come their way.
