Potato traders to go on strike if Bengal doesn’t allow selling to other states
Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has changed his social media profile picture to black, joining thousands of others in a symbolic show of solidarity with the trainee doctor from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital who was brutally raped and murdered. This online movement, which urges people to change their display pictures (DPs) to black, has gained momentum amid the ongoing nationwide protests demanding justice for the victim.
Ganguly’s decision to participate in the movement comes shortly after his remarks on Kolkata's security situation sparked controversy. His comments, made in the context of the horrific crime, drew criticism from some quarters.
Addressing the backlash, Ganguly clarified his stance, stating, "I don’t know how what I said last Sunday was construed or interpreted. I have said it earlier as well that the crime is a terrible thing. Now the CBI and the police are investigating the matter. It’s very shameful what has happened."
