The police in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad have arrested three individuals, including a doctor, in connection with the rape of a nurse at a private hospital. The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by the victim's father, who alleged that his daughter was raped by the doctor at the clinic where she worked.
The incident occurred on August 18 in the Thakurdwara area of Moradabad. According to Moradabad Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandeep Kumar Meena, the accused include Dr. Shahnawaz, the doctor at the clinic, along with two other individuals, Junaid and a woman named Mehnawaz.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharat Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the SC/ST Act. The SP confirmed that all three accused have been arrested, and the hospital where the crime took place has been seized following the medical examination of the victim.
This arrest comes in the wake of nationwide outrage over the recent rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, highlighting growing concerns about the safety of women in medical professions.
