In a major development in the junior doctor rape and murder case of RG Kar Hospital, the CBI has nabbed Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar medical college.
Ghosh was picked up by the CBI sleuths from the road while he was reportedly returning from court. However, it is not yet confirmed if Ghosh will be arrested or will only be quizzed by the central probe agency.
According to reports, Ghosh, who resigned from the post of RG Kar principal, had approached the court seeking protection. His appointment as the principal of the Calcutta National Medical College met with a huge backlash.
A division bench of the Calcutta High Court had directed the West Bengal health department to instruct Dr Sandip Ghosh to immediately go on voluntary leave, failing which the court will give its direction.
