Students on road demanding justice for RG Kar victim, police detains several in Salt Lake

The Student Front has initiated a health-building campaign and deputation program to protest against the horrific rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital. However, the protests faced a major setback on Monday when Bidhan Nagar Police arrested several protesters before they could gather at the Salt Lake Sector 5 metro station. The protesters were planning to march towards the health building to demand justice and stricter security measures for medical students.

The police, anticipating the protest, deployed a significant force outside the Sector Five Metro Station to prevent the protesters from advancing. The situation remains tense as law enforcement continues to monitor the area closely.

In a related development, students from Aliah University took to the streets in a massive protest march on Monday afternoon, demanding justice for the slain medical student. The march began at Aliah University’s New Town campus and headed towards Tata Mor. The protestors called for immediate and stringent punishment for those responsible for the heinous crime. The march saw a heavy police presence from Bidhannagar as authorities tried to maintain order and ensure the safety of the participants.
