Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel has taken decisive action in the wake of the tragic rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Addressing the concerns raised by the students and the victim’s family, Goel announced the transfer of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Chandan Guha, who was on duty at the hospital on the night of the incident.
Commissioner Goel also stated that the grievances raised by the students have been addressed. Acting Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Muralidhar Sharma, personally visited the victim's family today, providing them with the postmortem report and addressing their queries. "We believe the family is satisfied," said Goel, adding that they remain open to further communication if the family or students have any additional concerns.
In response to circulating rumors and speculation, Commissioner Goel emphasized that the police are committed to transparency and urged anyone with additional information to come forward. "Many rumors and stories are being made up, suggesting an involvement of multiple individuals. If anyone has any queries or believes someone else might be involved, they should contact us," he stated.
The Commissioner also mentioned that forensic experts will be consulted regarding the injuries sustained by the victim. He reassured the public that the police are adhering to Supreme Court guidelines concerning the use of CCTV footage in the investigation.
