Thief trapped by housewife in Behala, arrested by police after failed robbery attempt
An explosion at a cafe in South Kolkata's Jodhpur Park area injured one person on Wednesday. According to local municipal councilor Mousumi Das, the injured person, an employee of the cafe, sustained burn injuries and has been hospitalized.
The explosion, which occurred around 11 am, caused significant damage, blowing off the cafe's shutter and breaking its windows. "We initially thought it might have been caused by an LPG cylinder blast," said Mousumi Das.
Residents were jolted by a loud noise, and the aftermath was evident in the scattered items around the cafe. The police and fire department responded promptly, with firefighters quickly extinguishing the fire and entering the cafe to control the situation.
Fortunately, the cafe had just opened, and there were no customers present at the time of the explosion. The exact cause of the explosion remains unclear, pending a thorough investigation. While initial speculations suggest a gas leak from an LPG cylinder, the police will determine the definitive cause after completing their investigation.
