Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is back in action mode, conducting raids since Tuesday morning. This time, the central investigating agency has initiated an investigation into a massive fraud case involving hundreds of crores of rupees through online gaming apps. ED officials raided a multi-storey building in Kalikapur, Kolkata, focusing on a five-storey residence located on Kalikapur Road.
Sources reveal that the ED is conducting a search operation on the second floor of the building. The investigation centers around an online gaming app named 'Fi Wei', accused of defrauding Indians out of hundreds of crores of rupees. The complaint was lodged at Kashipur police station, prompting the ED to take action.
According to ED sources, the 'Fi Wei' app converted the money invested by users into dollars and then transferred it to China. The investigating agency has evidence that hundreds of crores of rupees have been sent to China through this fraudulent scheme.
This isn't the first time the ED has encountered such cases. Early last year, they conducted searches in Khidirpur related to another online gaming app called E-Nuggets, recovering 16 crores. Similar fraud mechanisms were employed, where users were required to make minimum investments to play games, promised financial rewards for winning. However, when users tried to withdraw their winnings, they were blocked, and their investments were stolen.
