Thief trapped by housewife in Behala, arrested by police after failed robbery attempt
While Bangladesh is engulfed in violence, Kolkata's Lal Bazar has increased security at the Bangladesh High Commission. More police officers than usual have been deployed in front of the High Commission's office. Approximately 15 to 20 officers are now stationed there, up from the previous four to five. This measure is a precaution against potential protests.
A senior Lal Bazar official stated that the officers will remain as long as needed. This action follows ongoing rallies and demonstrations by students against the reservation system in Bangladesh.
On Monday, a coup took place in Bangladesh, leading to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation after violent protests resulted in over 100 deaths. Protesters also stormed Dhaka Palace and vandalized the statue of Mujibun.
