A massive fire engulfed four AC bogies of the Korba Express at Visakhapatnam railway station, causing significant damage, but fortunately, there were no casualties. The incident occurred on Friday morning, with preliminary reports suggesting a short circuit as the probable cause of the fire.
The fire brigade responded quickly, and the flames were extinguished promptly. However, by the time the fire was controlled, three bogies were completely burnt. The train was empty at the time of the incident, with passengers having already disembarked, preventing any injuries or loss of life.
The accident took place around 10 am, just a few hours before the Korba Express was scheduled to depart for Kadapa from Visakhapatnam as the Tirumala Express at 2 pm. Emergency services, including GRP, city police, and railway officials, promptly arrived at the scene.
Railway officials have ordered an investigation into the cause of the fire, which initial findings suggest may have resulted from a short circuit. The damaged bogies have been detached from the train, and the track has been cleared. Items such as sheets, thermocol, and bedding were reported to have been burnt in the fire.
