After a long wait, the makers of 'Squid Game 2' have finally announced the release date for the highly anticipated Korean drama. The second season of the global phenomenon is set to premiere on Netflix on December 26, just after Christmas, more than three years after the first installment captivated audiences worldwide in 2021.
The creators have confirmed that Season 3 will be the final installment of the series. A teaser shared on social media reveals a new group of contestants competing in a deadly game, with red and black-clad workers overseeing the grisly outcomes on a running track. The trailer ends with the head of the soldiers ominously asking, "It's been three years. Do you want to play again?"
The upcoming season will follow Lee Jung-jae’s character, Seong Gi-hun, as he delves deeper into uncovering the masterminds behind the deadly games. Seong Gi-hun, the sole survivor from the first season, returns with a mission, as hinted in a teaser released earlier this year.
In addition to Lee Jung-jae, the returning cast for season two includes Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo. New cast members joining the series are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.
Both Lee Jung-jae and Hwang Dong-hyuk received Emmy Awards for their exceptional work on the first season of "Squid Game." Hwang will continue his role as an executive producer alongside Kim Ji-yeon for the upcoming seasons.
