Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
The Patna administration has shut down several coaching centres, including the Khan Study Centre, part of the Khan Study Group run by educator Faizal Khan, also known as Khan 'sir'. This action is part of a broader crackdown on coaching centres in the state capital for non-compliance with various regulations.
Patna Sadar Sub-divisional Magistrate Shrikant Kundlik Khandekar stated that the shutdowns were due to either the absence of registration or failure to comply with fire safety and other building regulations. This move follows the administration's verification of 3,000 coaching centres after three UPSC exam aspirants died in a flooded basement of a coaching centre in Delhi.
Most of the affected coaching centres are located in old Patna areas such as Mahendru, Rajendra Nagar, Kankarbagh, Agam Kuan, and Kumhrar. These areas are often prone to flooding and house institutions preparing students for medical, engineering, and other competitive exams, as well as for students from Classes 8-12.
The KSG institute on Boring Road has come under review, while the Patna administration has granted additional time to KSG’s two other coaching centres, including the Khan GS Research Centre (popularly known as GS Classes), to comply with the necessary building bylaws.
