A mutilated body of a minor girl was recovered from a sack near Kudghat in the Regent Park police station area of Kolkata on Tuesday. The police have identified the victim as a 17-year-old resident of the Sarsuna police station area. The case has been registered as a murder, and the investigation is underway.
According to police sources, the girl was in a live-in relationship and had a history of drug addiction. It is suspected that her partner attempted to kill her, possibly by giving her an overdose of drugs or by choking her.
However, the initial attempt did not result in her death. Believing she was dead, the suspect then stuffed her in a sack and sealed it. The sack was subsequently thrown into a canal on MG Road in the Haridevpur area.
The postmortem report has revealed that the girl was alive when she was placed in the sack and that she ultimately died due to drowning. Additionally, traces of drugs were found in her stomach. The police suspect that more than one person may be involved in this gruesome crime and are actively searching for the accused.
