An alarming incident of firing took place at St. John's Boarding School in Triveniganj Nagar Parishad, Supaul, on Wednesday morning. A nursery student brought a firearm to school and shot a third-grade student, leaving the community in shock. The injured child is currently receiving treatment at the sub-divisional hospital in Triveniganj.
The young attacker, a nursery student at St. John's Boarding School located in Lalpatti, had smuggled the weapon into the school in his bag. Before the morning prayer, he took out the firearm and shot a 10-year-old third-grade student. The bullet hit the victim's left hand, narrowly missing his chest. The wounded student is now undergoing medical care and is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident has triggered a wave of outrage among the injured student's family, leading to a significant commotion at the school. The injured child's uncle described the terrifying moment: "After the prayer, all the children were seated for their lessons. Suddenly, a nursery student entered the classroom with a pistol and attempted to shoot my nephew in the chest. My nephew managed to avoid the bullet, which then struck his hand."
Preliminary reports suggest that the nursery student brought his father's pistol to school. The police have initiated an investigation to ascertain how the child accessed the weapon and why he brought it to school. The police team arrived promptly at the scene and took the accused child in their protection. However, official statements from the police are yet to be released.
