A child was discovered unconscious in the bushes near a construction site in Kashbammahesho, Raiganj, on Saturday evening. The child had multiple injury marks and a visible strangulation mark on the neck, indicating an attempt to strangle. The child, however, was still breathing and was immediately admitted to Raiganj Medical College Hospital.
According to police and family sources, the third-grade student went to play near the construction site on Friday evening. When the child did not return home on time, the family began searching for him. They eventually found the child lying unconscious in the bushes with numerous injury marks and signs of strangulation, suggesting an attempt to strangle him with a rope or towel.
The police confirmed the presence of multiple injury marks on the child’s body and clear strangulation marks on the neck. Following the family's written complaint, the police arrested Dilip Roy, a resident of Raipada, Karnajoda. The authorities are interrogating the accused to determine the motive behind the assault on the child.
