Late Saturday night, President Draupadi Murmu appointed new governors for nine states, including Rajasthan. Senior BJP leader and former Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, has been named the new Governor of Rajasthan, replacing Kalraj Mishra. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma extended his congratulations to the newly appointed governor.
Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, born on August 17, 1945, in Phulambri town of Aurangabad district in Maharashtra, comes from a Maratha family. Bagde was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1985 from the Aurangabad East seat. He has also served as a former cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government.
Bagde won the MLA election from the Phulambri constituency in 2014 against Kalyan Kale of the Indian National Congress (INC) and retained his seat in the 2019 assembly elections. When the BJP formed its first government in Maharashtra in 2014, Bagde was appointed Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
