Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
In a tragic turn of events, one Indian soldier was killed and four others were injured during an encounter with terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district. The encounter also resulted in the death of a "Pakistani person," according to the Army, which confirmed injuries to two of its soldiers.
Sources suggest that the attack might be the work of Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT), known for its aggressive operations before the February 2021 ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. "This is an aggressive action and an escalation along the LoC," stated a senior officer.
The incident comes just a day after Kargil Vijay Diwas, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a stern warning to Pakistan, asserting that the Indian Army is prepared to defeat any terror challenge. This declaration was made amidst rising tensions and terror incidents in the region.
Earlier this week, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited the LoC in the same area to review the preparedness of the forces to deal with infiltration and terrorist attacks. Additionally, PM Modi chaired a review meeting last month to assess the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting the ongoing concern and strategic focus on the region.
