Bengal BJP President and North Bengal Development Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar has given a proposal to the Central Government demanding that North Bengal be merged with the seven states of the Northeast. BJP MLA Gouri Sankar Ghosh from North Bengal supported this and said that this is necessary for development.
A similar demand was made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey in the parliament as well. Dubey on Thursday demanded that some parts of Jharkhand and West Bengal be declared a Union Territory, claiming that the number of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh in the region is on the rise.
Ghosh said that he had written to the Home Ministry 2 years ago over Murshidabad and Malda. "The way infiltration is happening in Malda or Murshidabad district, the security of the country will be disturbed in the days to come," said Ghosh.
@BJP4Bengal #WestBengal #UnionTerritory #NorthBengal pic.twitter.com/mbe4NCEQXH
