Amitabh Bachchan begins filming for Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 16

Amitabh Bachchan has started shooting for the 16th season of his popular game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The veteran actor, who has been the face of the show since its inception in 2000, shared his excitement and behind-the-scenes pictures on social media.

Amitabh posted a monochrome photo of himself on the KBC set with his arms spread wide, captioning it, “BACK to KBC 16th season.” Another picture showed him running through the corridor, with the caption, “Yes, back and still no change in routine - the run is on.” He shared these updates on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday evening.

The previous day, Amitabh had hinted at his return to KBC by posting, “There is nothing quite as rewarding as work.. just back after a long day’s work.. and so invigorating!” He added, “Work has taken long hours and tomorrow is again early so.. till tomorrow.”

Fans were excited to see Amitabh back on KBC but were also a bit confused. One fan jokingly asked, “Phir last year itna emotional kyon kiya tha (Why did you make us so emotional last year then)?” Another commented, “Amazing, the GOAT is back.” Many had thought he had retired from the show.

The confusion comes from Amitabh’s emotional farewell speech at the end of KBC 15, where he tearfully said, “Devi aur sajjano, ab hum jaa rahe aur kal se yeh manch ab nahi sajega... Main Amitabh Bachchan iss daur ke liye, iss manch se aakhri baar kehne jaa raha hu, shubhraatri.” Fans had assumed this meant he was leaving the show for good. 

Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 will air on Sony TV, Monday to Friday at 9 pm, starting August 12.
