Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
In a brazen daylight robbery, a gang of seven to eight armed robbers raided the Kestopur Cooperative Bank in Gajol, Malda district, looting lakhs of rupees on Wednesday. During the heist, bank accountant Yogeshwar Mandal sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach while attempting to thwart the robbery.
Yogeshwar Mandal, a resident of Shikshakpalli, was initially treated at Gajol State General Hospital and later transferred to Malda Medical College Hospital for further medical care. Upon receiving the alarm, Gajol police swiftly responded to the scene. Preliminary reports indicate the robbers escaped with lakhs of rupees from the bank premises.
Police launched an immediate search operation, setting up blockades in the surrounding areas. In a dramatic turn, authorities intercepted the fleeing robbers at the Sukhandiki area in Old Malda Bhavuk. During the pursuit, police engaged in gunfire, injuring one of the robbers in the leg.
The apprehended suspects are now in police custody, with investigations ongoing into the details and motives behind the daring bank robbery.
