A Delhi court has summoned YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in a defamation case filed by BJP leader Suresh Karamshi Nakhua. The case pertains to allegations made by Rathee in a video where he referred to Nakhua as a “violent and abusive” troll. The court also issued a notice to Rathee regarding Nakhua’s plea for interim relief and scheduled the next hearing for August 6.
Nakhua, BJP’s Mumbai unit spokesperson, claimed Rathee's allegations were without "rhyme or reason" and intended to damage his reputation. Nakhua stated that "Rathee in a highly provocative and incendiary video that spread like wildfire across digital platforms, made bold and unsubstantiated claims against him."
This legal action follows Rathee's release of a video on July 7, 2024, titled “My Reply to Godi Youtubers | Elvish Yadav | Dhruv Rathee,” where he addressed accusations from Elvish Yadav and others. Nakhua asserts that Rathee’s video has led to widespread condemnation and ridicule against him.
Rathee released a second video on Sunday responding to allegations by Yadav, which added to the ongoing controversy. Advocates Raghav Awasthi and Mukesh Sharma represented Nakhua in court.
