Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking shortly after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her seventh consecutive budget, highlighted the government's achievements in poverty alleviation and economic empowerment.
Modi stated that 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty in the last ten years and emphasized the budget's focus on empowering the neo-middle class, the impoverished, villages, and farmers. He remarked, "This budget will provide limitless opportunities for the youth" and set a new standard for education and skills. The Prime Minister also noted the benefits for women, small enterprises, and MSMEs.
In his address, PM Modi announced the 'Employment-Linked Incentive Scheme', aimed at generating employment opportunities. "The government will pay those who are just starting out in the workforce their first salary under this scheme.
Under the apprenticeship program, young people from rural areas will be able to work for the nation's leading businesses," he declared. This budget marks the first of the third term of Modi's government, with Sitharaman stating that India's economic growth remains impressive despite global policy uncertainty.
