Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
On July 21, 2024, a dramatic incident unfolded in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, when Kanwariyas vandalized vehicles after their sacred Kanwar was allegedly damaged in an accident. The Kanwariyas, participating in the holy Kanwar Yatra that began on July 22, claimed that their Kanwar, a sacred water pot carried during their pilgrimage, was damaged due to the accident. A video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows the pilgrims resorting to vandalism, climbing onto the car involved in the accident, and attempting to break its windows. The situation escalated, leading to significant damage to the vehicle.
This incident follows a similar event on July 19, 2024, when a group of Kanwariyas from Haryana ransacked an eatery in Muzaffarnagar after finding onion in a curry served to them, which they claimed hurt their religious sentiments. The Kanwar Yatra, a significant pilgrimage, commenced on July 22 and will conclude on August 2, 2024, with the offering of holy Ganga water to Lord Shiva. In anticipation of the pilgrimage, Uttar Pradesh police have announced the closure of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway for heavy vehicles starting July 22, with traffic diversions for all vehicles from July 29 to August 5.
