Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
In a devastating event during the early hours of Sunday night, 11 devotees in Bhagalpur's Bhawanipur police station area drowned in the Ganga river. The group, consisting of teenagers and youths from Naya Tola, Navgachiya, had ventured to Madhurapur Ganga Jahaj Ghat to collect water for the first Monday of the Sawan month.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident unfolded when Alok Kumar (18) entered the river to fetch water and began to struggle. In a bid to rescue him, the others jumped in one by one, leading to a tragic chain of events.
Despite efforts by locals and divers, four individuals lost their lives in the ordeal. The deceased have been identified as Shivam Kumar (18), Sonu Kumar (16), Alok Kumar (18), and Sanjeev Kumar (17).
Authorities including Bhawanipur police station in-charge Mahesh Kumar, Circle Officer Vishal Agarwal, and RO Bharat Kumar Jha swiftly responded to the scene upon receiving the distressing news.
