Police nabs 2 fraudsters for duping people of lakhs by Telegram app in Bidhannagar

Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police have successfully cracked down on a sophisticated online investment fraud gang operating through the Telegram app. The gang, allegedly led by a mastermind named Shivam Singh, orchestrated a fraudulent scheme resulting in a staggering loss of Rs 18,66,000 to victims.

The investigation began after a complaint was lodged by a resident of Newtown, who reported unauthorized withdrawals totaling Rs 18,64,000 from his bank account between December 9 and 15, 2023. Acting on the complaint, authorities apprehended 19-year-old Bihari Prasad Singh, a resident of Bhagalpur, Bihar, who was found to be linked to the fraudulent transactions.

Further probing led to the arrest of Bipin Kumar, another member of the gang, who provided crucial information implicating Shivam Singh as the mastermind behind the scam. Despite these arrests, Shivam Singh remains at large as police intensify efforts to locate and apprehend him.

Speaking on the investigation, a spokesperson from Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police stated, "Our team has been diligently pursuing this case, unraveling the network of deceit woven by these individuals. We are committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice and urge the public to remain vigilant against such online scams."
