Anthony and Joe Russo, popularly known as the Russo Brothers, are reportedly in early talks to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to direct the next two "Avengers" movies. Sources have informed The Hollywood Reporter that the duo, who have helmed four of Marvel Studios' most successful and critically acclaimed films, are in the initial stages of negotiations to oversee the fifth and sixth installments of the popular franchise.
Multiple names were considered for the director role, including Shawn Levy. The Russo Brothers, who began their Marvel journey in 2014 and directed several major films, are reportedly in talks to direct the next two "Avengers" movies. Recently, they have focused on their AGBO banner, producing projects like the Oscar-winning "Everything Everywhere All at Once" and collaborating with Amazon and Netflix.
The fifth "Avengers" movie, originally "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty," faced setbacks after Jonathan Majors' conviction and director Destin Daniel Cretton's exit. The film will get a new title and focus, aiming for a May 1, 2026 release. The sixth "Avengers" film, "Secret Wars," is eyeing a release on May 7, 2027.
