In a swift investigation, Bihar police arrested Qazim Ansari, 40, on Wednesday for the murder of Jitan Sahani, father of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani. Jitan Sahani was killed at his home in Supaul Bazar, Darbhanga, over an unpaid loan of Rs 1.5 lakh. Ansari, unable to repay the loan and its interest, allegedly entered Sahani's house on the night of July 16-17, attacked him with a knife, and fled the scene. Darbhanga's Senior Superintendent of Police, Jagunath Reddy, confirmed the motive and the details of the crime during a press briefing.
Expressing satisfaction with the investigation, Mukesh Sahani emphasized the importance of ensuring no innocent individuals are wrongfully accused. "I had no information on my father giving a loan to anyone. My only concern is that no innocent should be booked. Hope the police are investigating the matter thoroughly," Sahani said. The former state minister's father, Jitan Sahani, was discovered dead by a house attendant the following morning. Mukesh Sahani and his brother Santosh Sahani live in Mumbai and Patna, respectively, while their father stayed alone at the family home.
