No more bus racing, overtaking in Kolkata! new tracking technology introduced
A Zomato user named Kannan recently highlighted the significant price disparity between online food delivery charges and actual restaurant bills, sparking a heated discussion on social media. Kannan's post on X included photos of two bills: one from the restaurant and one from the delivery app, showing a substantial difference. For example, a masala dosa plate that cost Rs. 122 at the restaurant was priced at Rs. 260 on the delivery app. Kannan noted that his order from Murugan Idli included items totaling Rs. 803 at the restaurant but was charged Rs. 987 on Zomato, a nearly Rs. 200 difference.
The post, which has garnered over 200,000 views and hundreds of comments since July 16, has divided netizens. While some criticized the high convenience fees, others defended the additional charges as reasonable for the service provided. One user commented, "You want convenience and also pay less!" while another added, "Swiggy / Zomato not an NGO, they need minimum 20% profit." The debate underscores the balance between the cost of convenience and the perceived value of online food delivery services.
