Major Brijesh Thapa, the son of Darjeeling has succumbed to injuries after a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda. His family has been mourning ever since the news broke out. 27-year-old Thapa was born in Lebong, Darjeeling. Apart from the ancestral home in Lebong, he also has a house in Siliguri.
Brijesh completed his higher education in Mumbai and did B.Tech from there. However, since childhood, he wanted to serve the country by becoming an army soldier like his father. Brijesh joined the army in 2019. His first deployment was in the 145 Army Air Defense of the Indian Army.
He was then transferred to 10 National Rifles in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir for additional regimental duty. Brijesh went there in September last year. He was supposed to come home this month, but could not return.
Brijesh's body will be brought to Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri on Tuesday by a special plane. After which, on Wednesday, he will be taken to his native village Lebong in Darjeeling where the last rites of the soldier will be performed with state honors.
