Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
A case of living with the dead has been reported from West Bengal's Howrah. A girl was staying with her dead mother's body in the house for 4 days in Tanti para lane under Chatterjee Hat police station's jurisdiction.
The chilling news has brought back the memory of Robinson Street where Partha De was living with the skeletal remains of his elder sister and the lifeless bodies of two pet dogs. For months, the chilling tale of Kolkata’s ‘skeleton man’ grabbed headlines.
As per the police report, the girl, identified as Kakoli Mukherjee, was living with the dead body of her mother Minati Mukherjee. Kakoli was keeping the AC running to avoid the foul smell. Neighbors claimed that both the mother and daughter were mentally unstable.
They noticed a foul smell after 4 days of Minati's death. The local people informed the police and after breaking the door, Minati Devi's body was recovered. While searching for the girl, it was seen that she was sleeping in the next room with the AC on. The body has been recovered and sent for an autopsy. Meanwhile, Kakoli has been sent to Howrah Hospital.
