TMC leader had sex on pretext of marriage, fled after police complaint

A Trinamool councillor of North Barrackpore Municipality in North 24 Parganas has been accused of repeatedly having sex with a young woman by promising to marry her. The accused Shubhodip Sarkar is absconding since the complaint was lodged at the police station. This incident, which came to light on Saturday, has created a lot of commotion in the area.

However, the father of the accused councillor claims that the complainant is mentally disturbed. On the other hand, Municipality President Malay Ghosh said that he is not aware of the matter. The police investigation is underway. If the allegations are true, the accused will be punished.

BJP did not miss the opportunity to take a dig at the ruling party on this incident. The complainant is a resident of Panihati. She complained at the Barrackpore Women's Police Station that Trinamool councillor Shubhodip had sexual relations with her by promising marriage. But, later refused to marry.

Apart from this, many complaints including physical abuse have been made against the councillor of Ward No. 11 of North Barrackpore. The councillor has not been traced since the complaint was lodged at the police station.

His father claims that false allegations are being made against his son. He taunted the complainant and said, “She should be put in a mental asylum.”
