AAP announces 1000 per month to women if voted back to power
It seems like bridges are collapsing in Bihar every single day. At least 12 bridges have collapsed across the state in the past 17 days. The latest incident has been reported from Saran district today. This is the third bridge collapse in Saran within just two days, as per District Magistrate Aman Samir.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the collapse of the 15-year-old bridge. It was built over the Gandak River connecting Saran to the neighbouring Siwan district. The cause is still under probe, but officials mentioned recent desilting work in the zone.
Out of the three bridges in Saran, two were barely a kilometer apart and collapsed within 2 hours on Wednesday. One bridge, constructed in 2004, was near the Dodh Nath Temple. The other was a British-era structure.
Apart from Saran, bridge collapses were reported in Siwan, East Champaran, Chhapra, Madhubani, Araria, and Kishanganj districts over a fortnight. CM Nitish Kumar has already ordered a survey of all old bridges in the state to identify those needing urgent repairs.
