Speaking in Rajya Sabha, PM Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition. He was replying to the Motion of Thanks to the President's address in the upper house. PM Modi accused the opposition parties of displaying selective outrage over crimes against women.
He cited the West Bengal's Chopra incident and slammed the INDI block leaders for remaining silent on a video depicting a man brutally thrashing a couple in public.
PM Modi expressed his disappointment, saying, "It is unfortunate for the country that even in sensitive matters when politics comes into play, it causes immense pain to the citizens, especially women." "The selective approach of the opposition towards atrocities against women is very concerning," he added.
The assault in question took place in a public street in Chopra, Uttar Dinajpur district. Police arrested the accused Tajmul Haque alias JCB. It is alleged that JCB is affiliated with the Trinamool party.
