After ED's questioning in the ration distribution corruption case, actress Rituparna Sengupta has expressed her desire to return Rs 70 lakh. ED sources made this claim on Tuesday. Rituparna went to the ED office located at CGO Complex last June. She was questioned for five hours.
The actress had claimed to the media that she had nothing to do with the ration corruption. However, she has handed over the documents sought from her to the investigators.
An ED official claimed that the investigators have obtained information about Rituparna's financial transactions with an accused arrested in the ration corruption case. It has also been revealed through that source that a company has financial transactions worth crores of rupees with the accused, whose owner is actress Rituparna. ED had summoned Rituparna to know about the transactions.
However, Rituparna went to the ED office on June 19. After about five hours, the actress came out of the ED office. Before getting into the car, Rituparna said, "The investigators are happy with my cooperation. I have nothing to do with this corruption. They (investigators) also cooperated, I also cooperated."
Earlier in July 2019, Rituparna and actor Prasenjit Chatterjee were questioned by the ED probing the Rose Valley case. At one time, many Bengali films were produced by the Rose Valley company. At that time, the ED had told that Rituparna was contacted by Gautam Kundu, the head of the organization.
