Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkant bashes Pakistan’s white-ball captain Babar Azam on his slow strike rate in the 2024 T20 world cup.
Launching a blunt take on Babar Azam's batting in T20 cricket, Srikkant stated that Pakistan should retire from the shortest format of the game. He added that Babar's strike rate is not good despite being the leading run-scorer in T20Is.
"It's not my opinion but frankly speaking, I don't think Babar should play T20 cricket. I mean you can't do this tuk-tuking all the time in T20 cricket. Look at the stats, they say Babar scored 4,000 runs like Virat or Rohit, but his strike rate is only 112-115. What are you talking about?,” 1983 World Cup winner said.
Pakistan was eliminated due to their two consecutive losses USA and India in the group stage. Despite a victory over Canada, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan team faced uncertain prospects of advancing to the Super 8.
In addition to Pakistan's underwhelming campaign, captain Babar Azam's batting performance has drawn criticism in the T20 World Cup 2024. Over three matches, Babar amassed 122 runs, averaging 40.66 but with a subpar strike rate of 101.66.
