Massive fire breaks out at Park Center, a multi-story building at the intersection of Park Street and Camac Street, at 10:30 am on Tuesday. The blaze spread rapidly, covering the entire area in black smoke before fire engines arrived.
Nine fire engines were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters are currently engaged in combating the flames. Initial reports suggest the fire originated in a restaurant on the top floor, which also houses a nightclub and several shops. The fire spread to the asbestos roof, causing it to collapse.
Police have cordoned off the area to manage traffic and have successfully rescued those trapped inside the building. Officers from Park Street and Shakespeare Sarani police stations are present at the scene.
