Persistent water logging issues plague Belur railway station underpass

Waterlogging under Belur railway station remains a persistent issue, exacerbated by heavy rain yesterday afternoon that resulted in chest-deep water accumulation. The area's low elevation causes water to flow in from all sides and stagnate, despite efforts to pump it out. Recent road renovations under the railway station have not resolved the waterlogging problem, which occurs frequently, leaving knee-deep water or higher after rainfall. This issue affects both Bally Municipality and Domjur Assembly constituency areas, forcing vehicles to take long detours and pedestrians to navigate the high railway overbridge or cross the railway line.

Local residents expressed their frustration with the ongoing waterlogging problems. "Even with the pumps running, water still accumulates, especially at night or after any rainfall," a resident said. The situation poses a significant inconvenience, impacting daily commutes and causing delays. The local authorities have yet to implement an effective long-term drainage solution to address this issue.
