RJD candidate from Saran and Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter, Rohini Acharya, has made serious allegations against the BJP following a violent clash during the Lok Sabha election voting in Chhapra, Bihar. Acharya claimed that BJP goons were responsible for the violence, which resulted in the death of an RJD supporter on Tuesday.
"Democracy is being murdered. We want justice," Acharya stated, adding that three RJD workers were shot. She also alleged that BJP supporters abused her and attempted to attack her with the intent to kill. Acharya has demanded immediate action from the police and administration.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Acharya called for an FIR to be filed against the BJP supporters involved in the clash while dismissing BJP's allegation of booth capturing, asserting it's her right to visit the polling booth as a candidate.
On Monday, during the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections, Acharya visited a polling booth in Telpa to monitor the voting process. She encountered BJP supporters inside the booth and asked them to leave if they had already voted. This led to an altercation, with BJP supporters allegedly abusing her and later attempting to attack her with stones and sticks.
The situation escalated further on Tuesday morning when an RJD worker was shot dead. The violence on Monday saw BJP and RJD supporters clashing outside the polling booth.
