In Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district, a woman named Mehar Jahan was apprehended by the police on charges of mental and physical harassment against her husband, Mannan Zaidi. Zaidi, aged 35, filed a complaint at the Syohara police station, alleging that on the night of April 29, his wife administered an intoxicating substance in his milk before tying him to the bed and burning his body with cigarettes. A CCTV footage capturing the incident showed Mehar smoking next to her restrained husband.
Based on Zaidi's complaint, the Bijnor police have registered a case against Mehar under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempted murder, voluntarily causing hurt, administering stupefying drugs, and criminal intimidation. Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Bijnor, a 25-year-old woman, identified as a computer instructor, sustained critical injuries after being shot by a man who had allegedly been stalking her. She is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
