Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
Mumbai International Airport was thrown into chaos after receiving a hoax bomb threat call on Friday morning, claiming a bomb was planted at Terminal One, Gate No. 1. Despite swift action by the airport authority, police, and bomb disposal squad, no evidence of a bomb was found after a thorough search. Subsequently, the call was deemed "non-specific," leading to a case being filed against the unidentified caller under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the FIR, the call was received at 11:06 am from a mobile number, with the caller mentioning "Terminal-1 bomb" without revealing their identity. Despite inquiries about the bomb's location, the caller abruptly ended the call, leaving the authorities scrambling to assess the threat. Gitanjali Nerurkar, a senior executive officer at the airport, filed a case against the unknown individual, citing charges related to circulating false information and criminal intimidation.
Madhukar Sanap, Senior Police Inspector at the Airport Police Station, highlighted the challenge of tracing the caller's origin, indicating a similar incident in the past attributed to individuals with flight-related concerns. The investigation continues to uncover the motive behind the hoax call and identify the perpetrator.
