SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
The West Bengal government on Friday moved to the apex court challengeing Calcutta high court's decision which direct Central Bureau of Investigation to probe the allegations of land grabbing and sexual assault in Sandeshkhali. The matter is scheduled to be heard by a bench of justices BR Gavai and Sandeep Mehta on April 29.
The CBI is already investigating the case related to the attack on Enforcement Directorate officials in Sandeshkhali and has registered three FIRs concerning incidents that occurred on January 5.
Earlier today, the Central Bureau of Investigation conducted raids in multiple locations across West Bengal's Sandeshkhali. During the search operation, the central agency seized arms and ammunition, including foreign-made pistols, according to officials. Additionally, a team of National Security Guard (NSG) commandos has been deployed in the area, along with a bomb disposal squad to search for explosives with the aid of robots and sniffer dogs.
