A young man made a startling leap into the Hooghly river from Howrah's Bally Bridge on Wednesday morning, leaving witnesses baffled. Eyewitnesses reported that the individual, who had been sitting on a Bullet bike, abruptly jumped into the river while engaged in conversation. His current whereabouts remain unknown, prompting a search operation by the police with the assistance of divers.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the youth appeared to be in distress, as he was seen conversing and crying while seated on the bike moments before the incident. The sudden leap into the river caused a commotion among onlookers, who were engaging in their usual morning activities such as exercising and walking. Prompted by the alarming situation, the police swiftly responded to the scene. Investigations revealed that the Bullet bike belonged to Ratan Jaiswal of Girish Park, who had entrusted it to his friend Ajit Sao of 77H/4/1 Kailash Bose Street.
