Dismissed teachers protest against HC decision, hints challeging court order in SC

In a significant development just before the second phase of polling on April 26, the Calcutta High Court made a decisive move by nullifying approximately 24,000 illegal jobs of Class 9-12 teachers in government-run and aided schools under the 2016 School Service Commission (SSC) Recruitment Panel.

Following the court's ruling, a group of dismissed employees gathered at Shaheed Minar Chowk on Tuesday morning to protest against the decision. Expressing discontent, they hinted at challenging the verdict in court and stated their intention to approach the Supreme Court on Monday. The School Service Commission (SSC) and the state government have also indicated their plans to contest the High Court's decision at the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, aspirants who applied for teaching and non-teaching jobs through the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) in 2016, and have been protesting for 590 days against the recruitment scam in the WBSSC say “We are happy that people who got the job through backdoors will be cancelled. It’s clear that tremendous amount of appointments of corruption did happen. We are not satisfied as we now need our job. The state will again go to the Supreme Court and the hearing will start but what about us?”
