Actress Vidya Balan, gearing up for the release of Do Aur Do Pyaar, has spoke about nepotism and biases in the Hindi film industry. Despite lacking industry connections, Vidya debuted in Bollywood in 2005 with Parineeta. Overcoming the challenges of being an outsider, she carved her niche with impressive performances.
In an interview, Vidya said, "Nepotism or no nepotism, I am here. Kisi ki baap ki industry nahi hai, nahi toh har baap ka beta, har baap ki beti successful hote," she asserted regarding biases in the industry.
Vidya described herself as a lone ranger during the interview. "I have been happy doing my own things. There were times when I felt like, ‘Maybe if I had the protection of certain people, people would have been a bit kinder in those phases.’ But in terms of opportunities, I don’t think anybody has been able to deny me my share," she shared.
