Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
The Calcutta High Court has raised concerns over potential involvement of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials in the illegal construction of high-rise buildings in Garden Reach. The court has urged for punitive action against the "real culprits" involved in the incident.
Following the submission of a report by the state and municipal corporation to the court on Monday regarding the Garden Reach incident, the High Court bench, comprising Justice Jaimalya Bagchi and Justice Gaurang Kant, emphasized the need for accountability and investigation into the role of municipal officials.
The court expressed satisfaction over the arrests made in connection with the Garden Reach incident but stressed on probing the involvement of KMC authorities facilitating the illegal construction. Notably, the state has reported the arrest of two individuals with one remaining absconding.
