SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
In a recent press conference, TMC senior leader Kunal Ghosh made startling allegations against a senior BJP leader from Paschim Bardhaman district, accusing him of meeting with an NIA SP to hand over a list of TMC leaders to be arrested before the Lok Sabha elections. Ghosh claimed that this meeting took place on the evening of March 26 at the BJP leader's apartment in New Town, Kolkata.
"I challenge this leader to prove his whereabouts on that day or we will present his call records and CCTV footage within 48 hours," Ghosh asserted during the conference. Also present was Chandrima Bhattacharya, a senior TMC minister, who added that the NIA's sudden re-investigation into the 2022 blast case in Bhupatinagar, implicating TMC leaders, suggests a deep-rooted BJP conspiracy using central agencies.
Ghosh further detailed that BJP's Jitendra Tiwari allegedly met NIA SP Dhanram Singh at his Newtown residence to provide the list of TMC members for arrests, alongside large financial transactions.
However the BJP leader has refuted to these claims saying that "If TMC leader Kunal Ghosh fails to come up with evidence that me or any of our leaders had been involved in influencing NIA probe or meeting any of their officials, I will file a defamation case against him."
