A betel nut trader, Sugandha alias Mrinal, residing in Pallishree, Chunchura, reported an attempted kidnapping incident on Sunday afternoon. According to Sugandha's account, while returning home from his factory around 1 pm, a group of five-six bikers intercepted him near Amarpur Maidan. Armed with weapons, the assailants allegedly attempted to forcibly take Sugandha to Chunchura on one of their bikes, resulting in a scuffle during which Sugandha fell from his bike and sustained a broken leg.
Prompt intervention from bystanders thwarted the abduction, and Sugandha is currently receiving medical treatment at a private hospital in Chunchura. Debashish Saha, the businessman's son, has lodged a complaint at Polba police station, prompting a police investigation into the incident. Chunchura MLA Asit Majumdar visited Sugandha at the hospital, reassuring him of swift justice and promising punishment for the perpetrators.
