Reacting to his exclusion from the Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency ticket by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Varun Gandhi has penned a heartfelt letter addressed to the people of Pilibhit, vowing to remain committed to their welfare regardless of his parliamentary status. In the open letter, Varun reminisced about his long-standing association with Pilibhit, stating, "My bond with Pilibhit is one of love and trust, far beyond any political affiliation. I was yours, I am yours, and I will always remain yours."
Despite speculation suggesting Varun Gandhi might contest independently from Pilibhit, he opted not to file nomination papers even on the final day, effectively putting an end to such rumors. His exclusion from the BJP's ticket allocation has marked a significant political development, especially considering the historical significance of the Gandhi family's representation in the region. Notably, Varun's mother, Maneka Gandhi, has been nominated as the BJP candidate from Sultanpur, signaling a shift in the family's political landscape. Meanwhile, UP minister Jitin Prasad has been nominated by the BJP for the Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat, succeeding Varun Gandhi.
