The incident occurred as the bus, traveling from Mecheda to Haldia, was reportedly speeding along the 116 Haldia-Mecheda National Highway. Witnesses at the scene recounted that the bus lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle, compounded by slippery road conditions due to rain, leading to the overturning of the bus. Locals observed that the bus flipped multiple times, with one of its wheels detaching and landing on the opposite side of the road.
Many passengers sustained serious injuries in the accident, prompting locals to rush to their aid and transport them to Tamluk District Hospital for immediate medical assistance. The incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and emphasizes the need for improved road safety measures, especially during adverse weather conditions.
